On 23rd May 2006 London brewer Young’s combined its brewing operations with Charles Wells of Bedford to create a major new national force in the brewing industry. The new company, Wells & Young's Brewing Company Limited, began operations on October 2nd, brewing all of Young's beers in Bedford alongside the Charles Wells brand portfolio.

Wells & Young’s Brewing Company Ltd is now a leading supplier of speciality beers in Britain and one of the top three brewers of cask beer in the country, with two of the fastest growing national brands, Young’s Bitter and Wells Bombardier.

They also produce the ‘World Famous’ Double Chocolate Stout and a range of fine English ales under both the Wells and Youngs brands.

Wells and Young's Brewing Company is the UK's largest privately owned brewery and is a leader is cask ale and premium lager. With some of the UK's best loved beers, Wells and Young's is a leader in its field.  With passionate farmers and expert brewers, the beers are brewed using techniques over a hundred years old, but in one of the UK's most modern breweries.  And all the beers are brewed with the accredited natural mineral water from the brewery's very own well, sunk over 100 years ago.

At the 2008 Australian International Beer Awards Wells & Youngs was awarded the Trophy for Best New Exhibitor. The Double Chocolate Stout picked up a Gold Medal and the Trophy for Best Stout while the Bombardier picked up a Gold Medal in it’s class.
