Karlovacka pivovara’s long tradition of producing beer dates back to 1854 when Baron Nikola Vranyczany built a special building for a new brewery, so called “Perhovo”, in Dubovac.
Over the years the brewery has changed owners several times and in 1992 after the independent state of Croatia was formed, Karlovacka pivovara, after being public property for many years, became a joint stock company owned by it’s employees.
The brewery , on April 1st 2003, became part of the Heineken group and is now Croatia’s largest exporter of beer.
